Terms of use

Last updated 22 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Bagged when you use our website and app. We’ve kept them as plain as we can. Please read them, along with our community rules and privacy policy, which form part of these terms.

1. Who we are

Bagged is run by Carl Joseph Lee, a sole trader based in the UK. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Bagged” mean the person running Bagged, and “you” means you, the member. You can contact us at rethrift@yahoo.com.

2. Who can use Bagged

  • You must be 18 or over and live in the UK.
  • You can have one account. The details you give us must be true and kept up to date.
  • Keep your password private. You’re responsible for what happens on your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
  • You can’t use Bagged if we’ve banned you before, unless we agree.

3. What Bagged does, and doesn’t do

Bagged is a place for people in the UK to buy and sell second-hand clothing and footwear. We help buyers find items, let members chat and make offers, take payment for items in the app, book the courier and hold the money until the item arrives.

The sale is between the buyer and the seller. We aren’t the seller and we don’t own or check the items. When you pay in the app, our payment provider Stripe takes the payment and we hold it on the seller’s behalf until the order is complete, as explained below.

4. Paying for items

  • Buyers pay in the app with Buy now (or by paying for an offer the seller has accepted). The price you see before you pay is the full price: the item, the postage you choose, and our buyer protection fee of 3% of the item price plus 50p. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details.
  • Only pay through Bagged. Never pay by bank transfer, PayPal, gift cards or cryptocurrency, and never share card or bank details in a chat. Asking someone to pay outside the app breaks our rules, and payments outside the app aren’t covered by buyer protection.
  • Offers aren’t binding. If a seller accepts your offer, you can buy at that price for 48 hours. Until you pay, either of you can change your mind, but please tell the other person politely.
  • Sellers can send everyone who has an item on their Rail a 5% or 10% discount for 24 hours. Only those people see the lower price, and they pay it with Buy now. Sellers can do this once every 3 days per item, and never see who gets it.
  • When you pay, the item is marked as sold and the sale is agreed. You can’t cancel just because you’ve changed your mind, but the seller can cancel before posting, and you’re refunded in full if they do.

5. Selling

  • Only list items you own and have the right to sell, and only clothing and footwear for now.
  • Describe items honestly, including any faults, and use your own photos of the actual item. The item must match its listing.
  • Follow our community rules, including the rules on kids’ items.
  • To sell in the app, set up payouts with Stripe (it checks your identity and bank details) and add the address you post from. Selling is free: you receive the full item price.
  • When an item sells, we buy the postage label for you, paid for by the buyer. Post the item within 5 days, packed so it arrives in the condition described. If the courier hasn’t scanned it within 5 days, we cancel the order and refund the buyer.
  • We send the item price to your bank 2 days after the parcel is delivered, or sooner if the buyer confirms everything’s OK. If the buyer reports a problem in that time, we hold the money while we look into it. Your bank may take a few working days to show the payment.
  • Bagged is for people selling their own things. If you sell as a business (for example, you buy items to resell for profit), you must tell buyers you’re a business, because they’ll have extra legal rights, and you must follow consumer law.
  • The law requires us to report sellers’ earnings to HM Revenue & Customs once a seller passes certain limits (30 or more sales, or more than €2,000, about £1,700, in a calendar year). When you get close, we’ll ask for your legal name, home address, date of birth and National Insurance number (or tax reference) in Profile → Seller tax details, and you agree to give correct details. If you pass the limits and still haven’t added them after two reminders over 60 days, we may pause buying of your items until you do; adding them switches buying straight back on. We send you a copy of what we report. Paying any tax due is your responsibility.

6. Buying and buyer protection

  • Read the listing and ask the seller questions before you buy.
  • Your payment is held until the order is complete. When the parcel is delivered, check the item. Tap All good if it’s as described, or Report a problem within 2 days of delivery if it isn’t, or if it’s damaged.
  • If you report a problem, a person at Bagged looks at it, may ask you both for photos or details, and decides whether to refund you or pay the seller. We may ask you to send the item back first. We tell you both the reason, and you can contact us if you disagree.
  • If the item never arrives, or the seller doesn’t post it within 5 days, you’re refunded in full, including postage and the buyer protection fee.
  • Buyer protection only covers items bought and paid for in the Bagged app. It doesn’t affect your legal rights: when you buy from a private seller, the law says the item must be as described.

7. Postage

  • The buyer chooses and pays for tracked postage at checkout, at the courier’s price. We create the label for the seller as soon as the payment goes through. If we can’t, the buyer is refunded automatically.
  • Sellers: choose the right parcel size when you list. If the parcel is bigger or heavier than the size you chose, the courier may charge extra, and we may ask you to pay that charge.
  • Delivery is carried out by the courier on its own terms. If a parcel is lost or damaged, contact us and we’ll help, including making a claim with the courier.
  • Sellers who bought a label themselves in a chat before in-app payments started can still cancel it, unused, within 14 days for a refund.

8. What you post

You own the photos, descriptions and messages you post. You give us permission to store, show, resize and crop them so we can run Bagged. This permission ends when you delete them, except where we need to keep a copy for a short time to deal with a report or for legal reasons.

You must only post things you have the right to post. Don’t post anything illegal, misleading, offensive or that breaks our community rules.

9. Keeping Bagged safe and fair

Anyone can report a listing, a person or a chat using the Report option. We use automatic checks to help spot problems, but these only flag things for us to look at. A person decides every removal, suspension or ban.

  • If we take action, we can remove a listing, give a warning, suspend an account for a set time, or ban it. We’ll tell you which rule was broken and why, unless the law stops us.
  • You can appeal any decision within 30 days from Profile → Account status. A person will look at your appeal and tell you the outcome.
  • We act quickly on illegal content. If we have to, we’ll pass information to the police or other authorities.

You can also complain to us about how we’ve handled a report or about these terms. See our Contact us page.

10. Closing your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time by contacting us at rethrift@yahoo.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, as explained in section 9.

11. Our responsibility to you

  • We provide Bagged, payments, buyer protection and postage with reasonable care and skill. We’ll try to keep Bagged running smoothly, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example while we fix or improve it.
  • Because the sale is between members, we aren’t responsible for the items themselves or for what members say or do. We’re responsible for handling payments made in the app as these terms describe, but not for payments made outside it.
  • We aren’t responsible for losses we couldn’t have expected, or for delays caused by things outside our control.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit. Nothing here affects your legal rights.

12. Changes and the law

We may update these terms as Bagged grows. If we make an important change, we’ll tell you before it takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can close your account.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
